This course is designed for anyone with an interest in first aid. The syllabus covers basic life support including the skills required to give basic life support.

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Dealing with the aftermath

Emergency First Aid / Appointed Person

Duration: 1 day

This course meets the training requirements for an appointed person in the workplace. The course looks at the practical and theoretical skills needed to deliver emergency first aid in the workplace and is ideal for those employees coming from smaller, low risk environments.

The course syllabus covers the following topics:

  • Control of Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Heart Attacks

    First Aid at Work Course

    This course is approved by the HSE for the purpose of carrying out First Aid in the Workplace. The contents of the course are as follows:

  • Personal safety, action at an incident
  • Priorities: DRAB check and sending for help
  • Unconscious casualty: Adults
  • Resuscitation: Adults
  • Choking: Adults
  • Dealing with blood loss and shock
  • Dealing with soft tissue injuries
  • Dealing with cuts and embedded objects.
  • Burns and scalds
  • Fractures
  • Dealing with bleeding
  • Spinal injuries
  • Asthma
  • Drowning
  • Chest injuries
  • Management of sprains, strains and dislocations
  • Angina and heart attack
  • Diabetes
  • Anaphylactic shock

  • Reporting and recording of injuries
  • The First Aid at Work Certificate is valid for three years following qualification, after which time attendance at a re-qualification course is required.
